‘Sister Wives’ Christine Brown Slams Ex Kody With Lawsuit Over Child Support & Custody

Christine Brown is taking her ex, Kody Brown, to court in a heated battle over child support and custody of their 14-year-old daughter, Truely. 

This legal move comes after months of tension, highlighted by an "awkward" reunion between Christine, Kody, and his only remaining wife, Robyn Brown. 

The "Sister Wives" trio's strained relationship, already on thin ice after their split, now faces another test as Christine Brown fights for her daughter's future in court.

The reality TV star has officially taken legal action against her ex as their post-split tensions reach a boiling point. On Monday, September 16, Christine filed a lawsuit requesting the court to establish paternity for their daughter, as Kody is not listed on her birth certificate.

Since Christine's split from the 55-year-old in November 2021, Truely has been living with her mother in Utah, far from Kody's home in Flagstaff, Arizona. 

According to insiders, Kody's absence in his daughter's life was a growing concern. His ongoing paranoia about COVID-19 and other issues supposedly kept him from maintaining a relationship with Truely.

In addition to establishing paternity, Christine's court filing also requested a domestic relations injunction. This injunction would prohibit both parties from engaging in harassment, domestic violence, or making significant changes to services without mutual consent or a court order. 

It also seeks to prevent either parent from taking the children on nonroutine travel without permission and from demeaning or disparaging the other party. These court documents, obtained by In Touch, mark a significant escalation in the ongoing drama between the former couple. 

The 'Sister Wives' Star Claims Move Was To Preserve Truely's Relationship With Her Father 

Christine's decision to move her daughter away from Kody ignited a fierce debate, as she claimed the move was intended to salvage their father-daughter bond.

The author, who shares six children with Kody—Mykelti, Aspyn, Gwendlyn, Ysabel, Paedon, and Truely—believed that relocating to Utah after their 2021 split would keep Truely's relationship with her father while it was still in a healthy place.

The mother-of-six felt that by doing so, she was protecting the bond between Kody and Truely, keeping it intact despite the physical distance.

However, Kody, known for his increasingly strained relationships with most of his children following his splits from Christine, Janelle Brown, and Meri Brown, strongly disagreed with Christine's perspective. 

Still married to his "favorite" wife, Robyn Brown, Kody lashed out at Christine's reasoning, calling it a "B.S. rationalization" and labeling the situation as "ridiculous."

Christine's latest legal action against her ex-husband came on the heels of a tense and awkward reunion that played out during the season 19 premiere of TLC's "Sister Wives."

The Blast reported that the uncomfortable encounter unfolded during a "Vegas-style" baby sprinkle for Christine and Kody's daughter, Mykelti Padron, who was celebrating her pregnancy with twins.

The reunion, necessitated by Mykelti's wish to have both her parents present, forced Christine to put her feelings aside for the sake of her daughter's happiness.  

"I will do anything for Mykelti, and Mykelti wants Kody and Robyn at her sprinkle. So, of course, they can come to the sprinkle," Christine shared during the episode. However, the entrepreneur admitted:

Christine Drew The Line At Being Friend 

Although she was determined to make her daughter happy, Christine made it clear that she had no intentions of rekindling a friendly relationship with Kody and Robyn. 

The tension between the former spouses was palpable during their reunion at the baby shower seeing as they avoided each other. In a candid confession, Christine revealed that she had no plans to make them feel at ease. 

"I'm not going to necessarily say hi. That would be disingenuous. That would mean I was going to be friends and friendly, and I'm not. I'm not going to be friendly," Christine emphatically stated.

Reflecting on the situation, she added, "Seeing Kody and Robyn at the party, I realized all of a sudden that this was more awkward for them. They're outsiders here, not me."

Christine Brown Opened Up About The Animosity Between Them 

Christine did not pull any punches when it came to her fractured relationship with her ex-husband and Robyn. The TV star opened up about why she was avoiding any interaction with the pair, revealing that their last conversation left a bitter taste. 

She claimed Kody "was furious the last time he spoke to me, and we haven't talked since." The family's patriarch echoed her sentiments, admitting that he struggles with the unresolved tension between them.

"I can't fake this off. Seeing her, there's so much animosity. It's all something that embarrasses me because I think it's all very childish," he told the cameras. 

Robyn, who finds herself caught in the middle, confessed to feeling uneasy about attending a recent baby shower where she would cross paths with Christine. 

As their once-united family continues to splinter, this courtroom battle could be the final nail in the coffin of the Browns' fractured relationship.
