The title of "Indy God’ on the pro wrestling scene outside of the major companies is a title that has been taken seriously since Matt Cardona was winning belts across smaller promotions.

Cardona took that title to heart as he reinvented himself following his release from WWE in 2020. He dominated the indies, winning multiple championships in companies like Game Changer Wrestling, House of Glory, Juggalo Championship Wrestling, World Series Wrestling and others. But when he re-joined WWE in 2025, the "Indy God" title, presumably, had to be passed down.

He told Fox News Digital previously that he didn’t think anyone, right now, was the so-called "Indy God" but named pro wrestling stars like Shotzi Blackheart, Richard Holliday and Ben Bishop as wrestlers who have emerged as some of the top wrestlers on the scene. When mentioned of those comments, Shotzi believed that Cardona knew she was the "Indy God" now.

"I think he knows that I am. Like, come on," she told Fox News Digital. "Like, I know that he was signed by the time the polls came out for the independent wrestler of the year, PWI's independent wrestler of the year. But I beat him by a lot. By a lot. So, yeah, I think like the fans know it. I've beaten him in the ring. I beat him in the magazine.

"And I think he's just got to say it. He's just got to admit it. Like he keeps trying to say, ‘Oh man, I mean maybe like also Ben Bishop and Richard (Holliday).’ No, shut up! It's Shotzi Blackheart and you know it. Like come on. Like we created something really special on the indies. Not a lot of people are doing really big storylines that like really mean something and he has to admit we created something special and I'm the ‘Indy God.’ I'm everywhere."

To her credit, Shotzi has been everywhere.

In the spring, Shotzi wrestled dozens of matches around the world. She then took Major League Wrestling by storm, winning the MLW Women’s World Championship.

She’s also set to get back on the independent scene when she participates in a 10-woman battle royal to determine Awesome Championship Wrestling’s No. 1 contender for the women’s championship. The match will take place next week at Indypendence Day in Poughkeepsie, New York.
