One of North America’s oldest golf clubs is in the spotlight after a driver crashed his Mercedes through the wall of Brae Burn Country Club’s pro shop wall and injuring two employees.

In the viral clip posted by X account LinksGems, the vehicle hops a curb as it enters a roundabout driveway in front of the building at the West Newton, Mass., golf club, which was established in 1897.

The Mercedes then accelerates, swerves between two golf carts parked out front and crashes into the building. The video cuts to a camera feed from inside in the pro shop, where two employees were folding some clothing near a desk.

The car then explodes through the wall, luckily missing the people, though both were knocked over by debris from the crash.

The video, which was posted early Monday morning, has been viewed more than 1.4 million times on X.

A few people sent me this - apparently someone drove through the wall of the pro shop at Brae Burn CC near Boston today.

I hope those two employees are OK. Looks like a tragedy was avoided by mere inches.

The two pro shop workers and the driver were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Daily Mail.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, though police said they have not found anything criminal and that alcohol is not believed to have been involved.

Police told the outlet that the incident may have been caused by “accidental operator error.”

Brae Burn’s pro shop suffered severe damage in the crash with an estimate for repairs yet to be determined.

“The Newton Fire Department and city engineer responded to ensure the building was structurally sound before the wall was boarded up,” a statement provided to the Daily Mail said.

According to the New York Post, Brae Burn had another incident involving a vehicle going where it wasn’t supposed to in 2021.

An SUV ended up getting stuck on a tee box at the sixth hole after the driver claimed his GPS took him the wrong way.

Police responded and a tow truck had to remove the vehicle, while no charges were pressed against the driver.

Brae Burn hosted the U.S. Open in 1919, but also has held the U.S. Women’s Amateur events in 1906, 1975 and 1997.
