Schlotterbeck held in high regard by Real Madrid coach José Mourinho

The central defender and German international is one of two defenders intriguing Real Madrid's new coach ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Borussia Dortmund's Nico Schlotterbeck, alongside Felix Nmecha, is part of Real Madrid’s transfer shortlist this summer.

José Mourinho is a big admirer of the two German internationals and has already gathered information on both players.

Mourinho is keen to sign a left-footed centre-back, with Schlotterbeck and Arsenal's Riccardo Calafiori among the names being monitored. 

As previously reported, the 26-year-old could leave the Westphalian giants for €50-60million due to a contractual release clause. 

Real Madrid are also planning to strengthen their midfield and attack this summer, with Nmecha a potential target. 

The 25-year-old made over 42 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring five goals and delivering three assists. 

Earlier this morning, Sky Germany also revealed that the Galacticos from the Spanish capital had joined the race for Nmecha.
