Prince Harry‘s wife, Meghan Markle, and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, finally reunited with King Charles for the first time in four years.

While the meeting has been seen as a right step toward reconciliation, sources claim that the future king, Prince William, is still not interested in meeting with his estranged brother.

This comes after reports stated that Prince Harry has been bombarding William with calls in a bid to make amends with the Prince of Wales.

With Charles finally reuniting with his youngest grandkids, many have speculated that the royal family feud might finally be nearing its end.

However, the opposite seems to be the case, as insiders claim William is said to be “furious” over the king’s meeting with Harry and Meghan, and not interested in talking to the Sussexes.

“The longer William digs in his heels and refuses to make peace with his brother, the more difficult it becomes for his aides and other senior royals, who are loyal to both him and Charles,” a source told the National Examiner. “It’s become a real battle because Charles believes it’s time for William to let this go.”

To make matters worse, William reportedly feels the monarch is making the wrong decisions when it comes to the duke and duchess, who have long since stepped down as working royals.

According to the source, the Prince of Wales “insists his father has been manipulated into all of this, which is only making Charles angrier because he sees it as a sign that William no longer trusts his judgment.”

This behavior from William is also said to have left Charles displeased, as he has “stopped briefing William on what’s been discussed with Harry.”

Prince Harry’s Calls To William Went Unanswered Before UK Trip

Harry reportedly made several attempts to reach out to his older brother before traveling to the UK for a series of charity engagements and an event marking the 1-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games.

However, the Prince of Wales didn’t give him any audience, as he continues to focus on his duties and their father’s health.

“Harry has been reaching out again and again. He has picked up the phone, sent long messages, and suggested meeting in ways that wouldn’t put anyone under pressure, trying to find some kind of neutral ground where they could just be two brothers talking,” a source close to the Sussexes told OK! Magazine at the time.

“In his mind, the family situation – and their father’s health – ought to be enough to get them past the stalemate, at least enough for a conversation. But from William’s side, there has been nothing back at all; it feels to Harry like he is speaking into a void, and that silence hurts as much as any angry words could,” they added.

It Is More Than ‘A Few Old Wounds’ For Prince William

Despite being in the UK and taking part in various charity events, Harry has still not crossed paths with his brother, William.

According to the news outlet, it appears the Prince of Wales has seemingly decided to distance himself from Harry for good, with sources claiming that William hasn’t forgotten the flurry of accusations Harry and Meghan made.

“People around William will tell you he has a long memory, and this is very much one of those occasions,” a palace source claimed. “From his perspective, everything Harry has done – the televised interviews, the pages of that book, the barbs aimed at Catherine – amounts to a sustained assault on the people he is sworn to protect.”

The same source added that for William, Harry’s actions were more than just opening “a few old wounds,” but more like he lit a torch “to the whole institution of their family life.”

They added, “In William’s mind, you cannot spend years airing grievances, tear the roof off in public, and then expect to wander back in as if nothing happened just because you’ve decided to pick up the phone.”

The brothers have not been on speaking terms for years now, with their relationship further souring after Harry and Meghan made several accusations against him and his wife Kate Middleton, as well as the royal family.

Hopes for a reconciliation seem further down the road, if at all, as sources also shared that the feeling behind palace walls is that Harry never truly acknowledged the damage he caused.

“When you look back at the Oprah interview and Spare, the feeling inside the palace is that Harry has never truly owned the damage those revelations caused,” a source said.

“He will reach out, he will say he wants to make amends, but from William’s side, it doesn’t come close to the scale of what was put into the public domain. That is why the phone keeps ringing, and no one picks up,” they continued.

The insider then stated that it isn’t about getting back to the Duke of Sussex for William, but that it is “about setting a boundary.”

Fortunately, the Duke of Sussex was still able to bring his children to see the king, who had been separated from their grandfather for four years, with their last shared interaction occurring at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
