Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly facing a cold reception in the UK after relocating from their home in California with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Sussexes, since their return to the UK, have had a rough time settling, with King Charles III issuing a directive that firmly kept them outside of the royal establishment and the larger royal family keeping their distance.
Prince Harry and Meghan were expected to stay for an extended period, but sources now claim that the couple is questioning the move as their royal relationships appear more strained despite their closer proximity.
Prince Harry And Meghan Met A Cold Reception In The UK
MEGAAn insider told the National Examiner that Harry and Meghan in particular are feeling unwanted now that they are in Britain despite the warm reception when they first visited in July earlier this year.
According to the source, the Sussexes were given the impression that their return would be seen as a “great thing.” However, “now that they’ve moved back, it does not feel as though anyone genuinely wants them there.”
Harry and Meghan’s plan to return to the royal homeland was revealed on August 19, and they officially landed on British soil a week later on August 26.
However, the royal family has certainly not rolled out the red carpet for them. The king has reportedly been “unavailable,” and Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, have become “more ice cold” to the Sussexes after the move.
Allegedly, the Prince and Princess of Wales are keeping their distance from the Duke and Duchess and “are going out of their way to avoid Harry and Meghan.”
The source claimed there has been no contact from their side, adding to the ostracization that has led to Meghan, 45, reportedly feeling “unwelcome” and the couple wondering if the move was a “huge mistake.”
The Sussexes Had A Highgrove Meeting With King Charles
MEGABefore the Sussexes decided to settle in Britain, they had previously visited the UK and reunited with Charles and Queen Camilla at their Gloucestershire home, Highgrove House.
According to InStyle, the reunion left Harry feeling “buoyed, very happy and energized,” and it seemed to be a sign of progress in mending the strained relationships within the family.
The meeting was the first time Harry and Meghan, along with their children Archie and Lilibet, met with the monarch since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral ceremony in 2022.
Charles and Camilla had an approximately hour-long reunion with the entire Sussex family, and a few weeks after the reunion, they made their surprise return to the UK.
However, they reportedly didn’t receive the reception they had hoped for, and still have to deal with their ongoing security issues.

The Highgrove Meeting Was Touted As A Step Toward Reconciliation Between The Sussexes And The Royal Family
MEGASources suggested at the time that Harry and Meghan’s UK visit with their kids was the beginning of a journey toward reconciliation after all that had happened.
“Every journey of a thousand miles begins with one footstep,” an insider noted, while another claimed that the king “will never shut the door on the possibility of spending time with his family because, despite all the trouble, blood is blood.”
However, two months later, relationships within the royal family appear ever more strained, especially after the royal guidance that didn’t go down all too well with Harry and Meghan.
The King Drew A ‘Line In The Sand’ With Sussexes Following Royal Clarification
MEGAThe frosty reception Harry and Meghan supposedly feel they have gotten since their arrival was only compounded by the king’s formal letter that took them off guard.
The letter sent by the Lord Chamberlain Richard Benyon at Charles’ instruction clarified that Harry and Meghan remain non-working members of the royal family despite their return.
According to the formal guidance, the Sussexes’ styles as His and Her Royal Highness “remain in abeyance and are not to be used” and their position is “akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”
Fox News Digital reported that the king drew a firm “line in the sand” after the letter wasn’t received well by the Sussexes, who were “a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.”
Prince Harry Remains Patient Despite The Struggle
Mirrorpix / MEGADespite the challenges, Harry, 42, is still holding out hope that things will get better as long as they remain patient, but Meghan is reportedly less so.
According to the Examiner’s source, “Harry keeps saying that they need to be patient, but it’s been very challenging for Meghan.”
Meghan appears to be struggling more with the transition and is said to be missing her life back in the United States.
The Duchess might be regretting the move to the UK, but she’s “hanging in there” even though the situation has supposedly been “testing her limits.”
