Patrick Dempsey will help make America great again, but outside the walls of Congress!

The American actor provided a lengthy response to address speculations surrounding his willingness to become a public servant as Maine prepares to choose a new Senate candidate in a few weeks.

Patrick Dempsey has joined a few of Hollywood’s biggest names who have lent their voices to issues concerning politics, development, and policies in America in recent times.

Dempsey mentioned in his statement that he has had to think critically about the decision to run for the United States Senate or not over the past few days. He stressed that it is not a secret how much admiration he carries for his hometown of Maine, and how concerned he has been for the state of things in America.

He emphasized the need to choose a new leader who would effect meaningful changes in Maine while leading with empathy, courage, and willingness to serve.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” star recalled his childhood of watching people get by with factory jobs, military service, and some purposeful occupations which have seemingly disappeared, leaving communities deserted and desolate.

Dempsey added that he “gave it a real thought” and identified that the challenges these days have also taken a different form, moving from mere political talking points to real-life problems.

The actor, in his statement to the Portland Press Herald, noted how many people battling these problems he has encountered at the Dempsey Center, stressing the need for cooperation to solve them.

The Actor’s ‘Answer Is No’ To The People Of Maine

The actor explained how he struggled with learning as a dyslexic child, connecting this reality to an urgent need to continue raising awareness about the importance of a good educational system to serve everyone. Dempsey then answered the pressing question about truly serving in Congress, stating:

“After a lot of thought, I realized the answer is no. Not because public service isn’t honorable, it absolutely is. But because I believe I can contribute more effectively through the life I’ve already built.”

He spotlighted the Dempsey Center and its achievements over the years, which have required synergy between professionals across all sectors and volunteers for the greater good.

He expressed his belief that democracy can work with passion to bring needed change to society despite the good being drowned out by the loudest of ill-intended voices.

Dempsey concluded his statement by urging candidates to lead with humility, honesty, diligence, and empathy because public office is a privilege measured by lives impacted.

Transgender activist, Olympic gold medalist and reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner also joined the California gubernatorial race in 2021 against current governor Gavin Newsom. Arnold Schwarzenegger left the movie world for a seat at the governor’s table for the state of California from 2003-2011.

Back in January, Farrah Abraham announced that she would be running for city council in Texas, decades after Howard Stern pulled back from the New York gubernatorial race after he was asked to provide his financial information.

Unlike Dempsey, Mike Sorrentino Said Yes To The People Of New Jersey

The list keeps growing as Mike Sorrentino also earlier revealed his intention to become the governor of New Jersey someday. As shared by The Blast, during an interview in May, Sorrentino expressed that once his mission with Archangel Centers has expanded enough, he will channel his energy onto the next political frontier.

Currently, the TV star is busy building a network of drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities he co-founded in partnership with Ascend Behavioral Health Network across the 50 states in America.

As soon as all the boxes have been ticked, Sorrentino shared that he is ready to be given a political nickname and also find a worthy political platform that can help him actualize the dream of lower property taxes.

After 11 years on his sobriety journey, the star admitted that he has found utmost fulfillment in helping people with an addiction recover and start life again.

Patrick Dempsey’s Love Life Has Won Several Races

While he is not going to be in Congress at the next election, Dempsey gets to carry on with Jillian Dempsey as one of Hollywood’s best couples. The Blast noted that the couple has rocked the boat of romance since exchanging vows in 1999 in Maine.

The couple welcomed their first child in 2002, then became parents to a set of twins in 2007, going on to survive rocky times in their marriage in 2015 before marking their 24th anniversary 8 years later. 

Dempsey and his wife met for the first time at her hair salon, leaving a lasting impression in Jillian’s mind about his nature and humility. Things kicked off romantically between them in 1997 with a first date at Dempsey’s home.

Beyond her romance with the actor, Jillian also carved a niche for herself in the beauty world when she created a signature lip gloss for “Charlie’s Angels” and also landed her products on the set of “Sweet Home Alabama” in 2002.
