Welcome to Screencaps, "America's Best Daily Column," as named by the readers. Screencaps, which publishes seven-days-a-week, is a mix of sports, pop culture, and emails from sane readers from around the world. This column isn't for the coastal elites. Give us a week to steal your heart. Our track record is pretty good. Let's have some fun.
In case you haven't noticed, American amateur golf has a full integrity issue
Case in point, watch what happens when Paige Spiranac, the world's No. 1 ranked golf influencer, as named by OutKick, and her playing partner face what looks like a knock-in and move on putt. Paige, who used to play in professional tournaments, pushes the putt only to be one-upped by her partner who pulls her putt to the left.
Are they just doing this for YouTube so men will keep watching? Could be. Here's the problem: We have an integrity issue in this country when it comes to golfers claiming to be better than they are. Golfers are calling four-footers gimme range.

Paige Spiranac is in action during the Pro-Am event before the Truist Championship 2026 at Quail Hollow Country Club on May 6, 2026, in Charlotte, N.C. (Getty Images)
Ten handicap players make 65% of 3 to 6 foot putts, according to MyGolfSpy data. In case you can't visualize a 3-foot putt, we're talking the length of a guitar, or a youth baseball bat.
But, wait, you're a 5 handicap. A 3- to 6-footer is simple for your golf game. You're automatic. No, you aren't. The make percentage from that distance for you guys is 67%.
When I tell guys I'm an 18 on GHIN (you can look it up), I can see the smirk. I can see them internally contemplating why they're even on the same course with me. And then I see these guys duffing tee shots, not counting it as a stroke, kicking balls out from behind trees, fluffing balls in the rough, calling 3 1/2 footers good and magically shooting 82.
Did you hear about the Tony Romo incident where he signed a scorecard where he might've been shaving strokes? It's unclear if it was intentional or not. That's why I wrote "might've."
America, we have to do better and it starts today at the courses across this country. I want to start hearing about your full integrity experiences. I want to hear that you stopped shaving strokes like Paigeviews Spiranac. I want to hear about how you've been set free emotionally from this fake world you've been living in.

Is the weather in the Smoky Mountains where everyone moved to during COVID-19 overrated?
I was a little shocked to see NW Ohio has more comfortable weather days than South Florida and parts of the Tennessee/North Carolina border in the Smoky Mountains. By the way, it's been 72-78 all week with very few clouds.
Now, that's all going to change in two weeks when the clouds start forming off the Great Lakes and it's cloudy until around May 14, 2027. Yes, there will be a few days in January where it's crystal clear and 10-below with the wind chill.
I need you guys in the Smoky Mountains to tell me why there are shades of pink showing up. Is the weather actually overrated in the Smoky Mountain towns?
How to transfer nearly $500k when your payroll department insists on sending you a check for your 401k money
****NONE OF THIS ADVICE SHOULD BE USED/TAKEN AS GOSPEL. DON'T EVEN THINK OF SUING ANY EMAILERS, ME, OR OUTKICK IF THINGS DON'T WORK OUT!!!!! THIS IS NOT CNBC. THIS IS A SPORTS AND CULTURE COLUMN**** (I'm always stressed when we talk finances because there's always someone out there looking to sue the living daylights out of people like me and my bosses.)
– Philly Ray in MN checks in: As a Financial advisor, let Doug in Texas know that he could perform a direct rollover into his Traditional IRA. That way he can invest in what he wants rather than being limited to the new company's investment choices. If the check is made out to the new company's retirement plan, nobody will be able to cash it except the plan sponsor. I'd track the check all the way though. (Disclaimer: this is not a solicitation and investments can lose value and are not guaranteed) .
– David CPA says (don't take his word as gospel!!!!!!): Hey, Do NOT deposit that check in your personal account. It will count as income and you will have a huge tax bill. Shame they couldn't roll it over for you. Good luck.
– Frank in Texas is living this hell right now, too: Regarding Doug from Texas angst about the USPS concern about misplacing his 401K rollover check, I just went through this myself, I too was wigged about it (similar amount of $$ involved) - he just needs to ensure the check is made out to his new account, rather than himself personally that way if it gets lost/stolen it can't be cashed - they will issue him a new check
Keep up the great work on America's Favorite Column (TM)

On the life of Mike Ditka
– Phil in Florida remembers: Joe, I write to you killing off a hangover from last night with water and electrolytes (it’s what plants crave) and preparing to start it all over. See I’m originally from Chicago, a fan of all teams except the cubs, and I couldn’t care less about the WNBA team. And soccer isn’t a sport. That loss last night by my Sox was hurtful as a fan.
Then just a few minutes ago reading something that hurt more than my last breakup, Da Coach has died. Mike Ditka, has passed on to the great gridiron in the sky. May many a Polish sausage be consumed today in his honor, many Old Styles drank in his memory, and multiple referees given the finger in his remembrance. I will refrain from saying F the Packers (see what I did there) and instead leave you with this. DAAAAAAAA Bears!

– K.M. says: Hey, how about we just have marching bands at halftime, instead of lame talking heads. When are the networks going to realize they all suck.

– Daren in NE ATL wants in this morning: This is a bit different than a delivery, but references language issues. I called a local IRS number, in Gainesville, GA, yesterday with a question. I was transferred four times, finally to the local representative. The first three barely, or not all, English. Ah, this is our Federal Gov't. Who is doing the hiring?
– Greg says there's at least one Hooters doing well: It’s a damn shame what is happening to Hooters nationally but the location at The Villages, Florida is kicking some arse. The wealthy retirees are throwing money at the girls. This should become their new business model!
