At about 4:19 p.m., Ottawa Fire Services took a 911 call about two paddleboarders struggling to return to shore near the 300 block of Grandview Road.

According to a fire services social media post on Sunday, the pair were battling against a strong current and wind.

A Water Rescue Team boat was already on the river, returning from a previous call, and quickly got to the paddleboarders’ location, finding them at 4:28 p.m. The mother and daughter, who were both wearing personal flotation devices, were back on shore by 4:41 p.m.
