The Ottawa Police Service has announced that a 50-year-old Ottawa man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault in late March.

An OPS media release on May 27 said that David Cheddesingh had been arrested two days earlier.

On March 29, police issued a request for public assistance in identifying the suspect in a sexual assault between 11 p.m. and midnight the night before on Colonel By Drive beneath the Mackenzie King Bridge.

The investigation by the OPS Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit was ongoing, the latest release said, adding that investigators believed there could be additional victims.

Police asked anyone who may have been driving along Colonel By Drive during that time period on March and has dash cam video, or anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed anything suspicious, to contact the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222, extension 5944, or email [email protected], and reference case number 26-81161.
