A 29-year-old Ottawa man is nearly 120 criminal charges in connection with a series of alleged property crimes across the city between March and May of this year, police said Tuesday, May 26.

An Ottawa Police Service media release said the man, who was not identified, was charged with multiple counts of theft under $5,000, break and enter, fraudulent use of a credit card, mischief under $5,000, possession of break-in instruments, resisting arrest and breach of a probation order.

Police said the investigation involved incidents of shoplifting, break and enter, fraud and probation-related offences. Investigators allege the accused was involved in repeated thefts targeting retail stores as well as break and enters into residential and commercial parking garages, where property and bank cards were stolen.

In total, the arrest helped resolve 40 investigations across the city, Ottawa police said.

Investigators believed the cumulative financial impact of the offences exceeded $100,000, police said.
