Ottawa firefighters rescued several dogs from a basement fire in the city’s south end on Thursday morning, reviving one dog that had lost all vital signs.
On social media, the Ottawa Fire Service said the emergency call came in around 11:15 a.m., with a neighbour reporting smoke coming from the home on Finn Court.
Upon arrival, firefighters located the fire in the basement. Nobody was home, except for four dogs, the fire service said.
One dog had lots all vital signs, but firefighters performed CPR and delivered oxygen through the use of a special mask designed for animals.
“Firefighters successfully revived the dog and it has since been brought to an animal hospital for further treatment,” the post on social media read. “Firefighters contained the fire to the basement before it could spread throughout the home.”
A fire investigator was investigating the cause of the blaze.
