After rumours of an exit emerged yesterday afternoon, Lovro Majer is officially leaving VfL Wolfsburg to join AEK Athens.

After three years with the Wolves, the Croatian international has completed his medical and signed for the reigning Greek champions.

Majer joined the Autostadt club from Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennes in the summer of 2023 for a transfer fee of €25million.

Over the past three seasons, the attacking midfielder made a total of 75 appearances, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.

“Lovro made it clear to us that he wanted a new sporting challenge. With AEK, an option has now emerged that makes sense for both sides.

"We’d like to thank Lovro for everything he gave in a VfL shirt and wish him all the very best for the future,” said sporting director Pirmin Schwegler.
