FSV Mainz 05 have officially announced that Ransford Königsdörffer is transferring to the club from Hamburger SV.

This season, Königsdörffer made 33 Bundesliga appearances for Hamburger SV, chipping in with a share of five goals.

The Berlin-born Ghanaian star also boasts extensive experience in the 2.Bundesliga, where he has made a total of 130 appearances.

“Ransford Königsdörffer is a fast and physical striker whose style of play will fit very well into our attack,” said sporting director Niko Bungert.

"He has been on the pitch in almost every competitive match in recent seasons and has developed into a regular Bundesliga player.

“At 24, Ransford is at an excellent age and we are very happy that we were able to convince him to take the next steps in his career with us at Mainz 05,” he added.

The signing of Königsdörffer on a free transfer is the second high profile one after the arrival of Eric Martel from 1.FC Köln yesterday.
