Borussia Mönchengladbach further extended Fabio Chiarodia's contract until June 30, 2028. The center-back recently played his first two games for Italy after a change of approach by Azzurri.

Chiarodia joined Gladbach from Werder Bremen at the age of 18 in 2023. The U19 European champion with Italy made 15 Bundesliga appearances last season.

“Fabio is a young centre-back with tremendous potential, which he has demonstrated not only with us but also recently with Italy’s senior national team. Now he must take the final step towards establishing himself at the highest level, and we want to support him in doing so,” said Gladbach's Head of Sports Rouven Schröder.

“I have developed continuously year after year since arriving in Mönchengladbach. I have matured as a player and started to get more playing time with each season. Especially after my injury last season, I clearly felt the trust that was being placed in me. I had very positive discussions with Eugen Polanski and Rouven Schröder, during which we spoke openly about our plans for the future. That is why I have decided not only to continue my journey here, but to extend it.” said the 21-year-old.
