The month of August ended with sad news in the acting world after the death of Nigerian-born American actor Obi Ndefo at the age of 51 was confirmed.

Nkem Ndefo, Obi's sister, made this known with the following message: "Heartbroken at the loss of my younger brother and knowing he is finally at peace. He was always a fighter, always looking for how to give more, how to inspire more and how to love deeper."

Who was Obi Ndefo?

Born on October 29, 1972, Obi Ndefo was an American actor who graduated from drama school at Yale University in the state of Connecticut.

He is best known for having participated in the television show Dawson's Creek playing Bodie Wells in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

He is also remembered for appearing in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1995) and Stargate SG-1 (2000-2005).

Obi Ndefo lost his legs in a tragic accident

In 2019, Ndefo was hit by a hit-and-run car as he was leaving a supermarket and unfortunately both of his legs had to be amputated to save his life.

Since then, Obi Ndefo became a resilient person and used his case to inspire others not to throw in the towel and enjoy life despite adversity.

He was a lifelong sports enthusiast and therefore used prosthetic legs to stay in shape for the last five years.
