Man arrested after woman gunned down in north Etobicoke

Toronto Police have arrested a man in a shooting early Friday that left a woman dead in north Etobicoke. Officers were called to the Humberwood Blvd. and Rexdale Blvd. area, west of Woodbine Mall, around 7:25 a.m. for reports of a female located with a gunshot wound. Duty Officer Scott Bradbury told reporters life-saving measure were attempted but the victim died at the scene.

Toronto’s rain barrel program derailed as ‘overwhelming demand’ crashes website

Toronto City Hall can’t say it wasn’t warned about the rain barrels. The second round of a rain barrel subsidy program was a washout on Thursday when the vendor’s website was crushed by “overwhelming demand,” the city said Friday morning. That interest would be high was no surprise, as the first round sold out in nine hours and Mayor Olivia Chow said city hall had heard plenty from Torontonians who missed out the first time.
