Just days after police said they had identified the culprits, three young girls are in custody following last weekend’s assault on a pair of elderly GO Train passengers. Three girls — aged 13, 15 and 16, all of whom can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) — face numerous charges in connection with the assault, footage of which quickly went viral.

LILLEY: Doug Ford can’t unsell his Olivia Chow endorsement

Doug Ford really wants everyone to know that when he endorsed Olivia Chow the other day, it wasn’t an endorsement. Ford had his office put out a statement to that effect late Thursday, about 32 hours after he made the original statement. It’s a strange move that keeps this strange story alive longer than its natural shelf life.

Bizarre social media posts land Ottawa mayoral candidate behind bars

Issuing death threats against public officials has landed a fringe Ottawa mayoral candidate behind bars. Geoffrey Nicholas Griplas, who registered his candidacy under the name “Geoff Nicholas,” faces two counts each of criminal harassment and uttering death threats connected to a string of social media posts levying threats against Ontario Premier Doug Ford and incumbent Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe, who is also running in next month’s civic ballot.
