Police west of Toronto have scored the largest methamphetamine bust in the history of the Halton Regional Police Service. On Thursday, Halton police announced that two men were in custody following a $5-million drug seizure as part of a joint-force investigation dubbed “Project Jester,” which targeted drug trafficking across the Greater Toronto Area.

Court documents show why no-show trucker was still out on bail before he got 15 years

Charanpreet Singh, 29, of Brampton, was found guilty in February by Superior Court Justice George King of importing 55 kilograms of cocaine and five kilograms of heroin worth $7.5 million into Canada over the Blue Water Bridge in Sarnia on April 8, 2022. Singh was freed on $55,000 bail about two weeks after the drugs were discovered and, despite the convictions, he was permitted to stay out of custody until his June 24 sentencing hearing. But four days before his court date, on June 20, Singh allegedly removed his ankle bracelet and fled Canada, sources said.
