Newly released emergency recordings are shedding more light on the tragic death of “Storage Wars” star Darrell Sheets. 

Bodycam footage and 911 audio from the day of the reality TV personality’s death have now been made public, offering a heartbreaking glimpse into the moments immediately after the incident. 

The recordings capture the frantic call placed by his girlfriend as first responders rushed to the Arizona home where Sheets died.

According to 911 audio obtained by TMZ, Darrell Sheets’ girlfriend called Lake Havasu City authorities after the reality TV personality died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on April 22, 2026. Her identity has not been publicly released.

Clearly distraught, she told the dispatcher, “I think he just killed himself … I just heard a gun go off.” 

When asked whether she had witnessed the incident, she explained that she “didn’t want to look,” revealing that she had been in the garage while Sheets was inside his home office when the gunshot rang out.

As the dispatcher worked to calm her down and encouraged her to take deep breaths, she repeatedly expressed disbelief over what had happened, struggling to process the devastating situation as help was dispatched.

Sheets Had Been Dealing With Personal Struggles, Girlfriend Said

During the conversation, Darrell Sheets’ girlfriend told the dispatcher that he had never previously threatened to take his own life, making the incident even more shocking.

She explained that the 67-year-old had recently been battling sleeplessness and difficult family issues, including a difficult visit from his son and daughter-in-law shortly before his death. 

She described what he had been going through as “terrible, terrible sh-t.”

As the call continued, the actor’s partner informed the dispatcher that emergency crews had arrived and that she could see the flashing lights outside the home.

Police Reveal New Details In Darrell Sheets Investigation

Newly released police records have provided a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding Sheets’ death, officially closing the investigation while uncovering new details about his final days. 

According to a report obtained by PEOPLE, investigators concluded that the reality TV star died by suicide after discovering a handwritten note in which he referenced relentless Facebook bullying, writing that he “could not take anymore the Facebook bullying.” 

Phone records and witness interviews formed part of the investigation, while authorities also looked into allegations of online harassment raised by “Storage Wars” co-star René Nezhoda. 

After reviewing the evidence, police closed the case, finding no basis for criminal charges related to the cyberbullying allegations.  

Sheets’ Autopsy Reveals New Details About His Final Hours

Weeks before the newly released police records provided fresh insight into the investigation surrounding Darrell Sheets’ death, the star’s autopsy report offered additional details about his physical condition before he was found dead. 

As reported first by Us Weekly, toxicology tests came back negative after officials screened his blood for substances including cocaine, fentanyl, benzodiazepines, and other drugs, confirming there were no drugs in his system at the time of his death. 

Medical examiners also described Sheets as “a well-developed, well-nourished adult male,” while documenting several tattoos, including a joker, a checkered flag, the number 58, and a female figure, noting they had no role in his death.

Following Darrell Sheets’ tragic death, heartfelt tributes have poured in from his family, “Storage Wars” co-stars, the show’s producers, and fans, all remembering the larger-than-life personality known as “The Gambler.” 

His son, Brandon, shared an emotional Instagram post, writing, “My heart is so broken… I love you Dad and I will do my best to live in your honor and respect our Family. Let’s all continue to build those memories and keep the legacy that is ‘Darrell (The Gambler) Sheets.’” 

On what would have been his father’s 68th birthday, Brandon added, “Thank you for raising me to be the man I am today… wish that I could spend just one more day with you.”

A&E also honored Sheets, saying, “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.” 

In addition, the network broadcast an In Memoriam segment shortly after his death, honoring his 163-episode legacy on the hit reality show.

Other fellow cast members, including René Nezhoda, Brandi Passante, and Dan Dotson, remembered him as a fierce competitor, loyal friend, and devoted family man, with Nezhoda urging fans to show more kindness online in the wake of the tragedy.
