Michigan newlyweds arrested after groom allegedly runs over and kills groomsman hours after wedding

A bride and groom were arrested in Flint, Michigan, last week after the groom allegedly ran over and killed one of his groomsmen hours after the wedding, according to police.

The City of Flint Police Department responded to the 1400 block of E Hamilton Avenue on Aug. 30 for a report of a "pedestrian injury crash," the department said Wednesday in a Facebook post.

The victim was identified as 29-year-old Terry Lewis Taylor Jr., who was found with severe injuries and taken to a nearby medical center where he later died.

According to police, Taylor Jr. was at a wedding earlier that day where he was a groomsman to James Shirah, 22.

"After the wedding he was involved in an argument which led to him being intentionally struck by a large SUV that was traveling at a high rate of speed and driven by the groom," police said.

Police did not share any details about what Shirah and Taylor Jr., argued about.

Shirah was arrested and arraigned for second degree murder, according to police. He's being held without bond.

His bride, Savahna Collier, 21, was also arraigned for accessory after the fact to a felony and her bond was set at $4,000. Police did not elaborate on Collier's culpability in the incident.

The police department spelled Collier’s first name as “Savahna,” whereas court records show it as “Savanah.” Shirah and Collier’s attorneys did not immediately respond to NBC News’ requests for comment.

Shirah and Collier are due to appear in court next Thursday, according to court records.
