Mel C reveals heated argument with Victoria Beckham that ‘jeopardized’ her spot in the Spice Girls and left bandmates ‘disgusted’

Mel C almost got kicked out of the Spice Girls over an argument with her bandmate Victoria Beckham.

The singer, 52, revealed their intense fight during her recent appearance on “The Louis Theroux Podcast.” Mel C — whose real name is Melanie Chisholm — shared it occurred at the 1996 BRIT Awards. Though they weren’t famous yet as the Spice Girls had yet to release their debut single, 1996’s smash hit “Wannabe,” they had an “amazing night” drinking champagne and getting to sit at a table with Lenny Kravitz.

But Sporty Spice said the night later took a turn for the worst.

“We were just leaving, we were going to find our car, and whatever the situation was, I just turned around and go, ‘Victoria, f‑—k off,’” she recalled. “I go home, go to bed, I wake up the next morning, and I was in a lot of trouble.”

Mel C said Mel B (Sporty Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) told her they were “disgusted” with her behavior and that the group’s manager also came down hard on her.

“I was told in no uncertain terms that if anything ever happened like that again, I would be gone,” she said. “That completely freaked me out.”

She admitted she was terrified that she was going to “lose everything” over a “trivial” incident.

“Those dreams as a child, which now were a possibility, I might have f—ked it all up,” she said.

Back in May, Mel C revealed who was the most “boy crazy” of the members of the Spice Girls when they hit superstardom in the ’90s, which she said was Mel B.

“I would say the best success rate…” she began in an episode of “Cosmopolitan’s Blind Date,” before commenting that Mel B “was very popular.”

Earlier that month, she also addressed assumptions about her sexuality while she was part of the iconic girl group.

“You’ve got all the different ones and the one who’s in the active wear … it was assumed or suggested that I was gay,” she said during her appearance on “The Mitch Churi Chat Show.”

“I don’t personally have a problem with that,” she continued. “I mean, it’s none of their friggin’ business. But I just thought … to base it on somebody’s look or the way that they dress, yeah, it was a bit s—t of them.”

Mel C has a daughter, Scarlett, 17, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend Thomas Starr. She’s been dating Australian model Chris Dingwall since November 2023.
