Meghan McCain maintains that love for family trumps politics!

The TV personality moved to put trolls to rest who have seemingly raised swirling whispers about her relationship with her mother and siblings. Owing to their different political affiliations, netizens have drawn connecting dots to underlying family feuds.

Meghan McCain has never been one to hold back her words. She recently rose to politician Pete Buttigieg’s defense after an investigation was launched involving his young children.

Meghan McCain Clears The Air On Her Family’s Political ‘Affiliations’

McCain could not let the rumors slide that have been making waves online, so she sent out an address via social media. “Going to address something because there’s quite a bit of negative online chatter directed at me,” the TV personality’s statement began.

“My mother, siblings and I love and support each other despite our political differences and affiliations,” she continued, adding that her political stance remains unchanged despite the views of her family members.

The author added that she sees no issue with being a conservative republican while her family supports a different political party. McCain referenced Senator Lindsey Graham, who suddenly passed away recently, writing in the post that his death impressed a few life lessons on her. 

For the TV personality, one big takeaway from Graham’s death was the fact that life is short and family or relationships are worth more than politics. “I know a lot of you want drama and ugliness, but it simply isn’t there,” McCain ended her post on X. 

Netizens Resonate With The TV Host’s Stance

McCain’s words seemed to have struck a chord in the hearts of many online users as they took to the comments, applauding her stand amid sharing their personal experiences. Many fans noted that they have gone through family divisions over political views.

“I have many friends and family members who are politically opposite of me. I chose relationship over being ‘right’ and so do they. In the end, we are far more alike than we are different. And we do need each other,” a commenter wrote. “R-E-S-P-E-C-T to you!” another simply commented.

Other fans praised the media personality’s parents for raising her to honor family first. “Your father, Joe L, and Lindsey raised you right. I can pinpoint when everyone decided losing friends and family because of politics was a good idea. The current President is at the center. Good for you for standing in your belief system and keeping family first,” a separate comment read.

There were other online users who did not receive McCain’s post in good faith. They called her out for supposedly sullying her late father’s legacy and being “an embarrassment” to her family. Others countered her claim as a conservative republican writing that the author is rather a “Trump cult member.”

Meghan McCain’s Father Was The Foundation Of Her Political Mindset

McCain spent ample time with her father, John, during his lifetime from her early days. She previously recalled going along with the late Senator to political events and office spaces.

“I’m so grateful for every second he involved me in his life and his career. It made me love politics and democracy, and it really made me love America,” she shared.

The TV personality marked John’s last Father’s Day on earth in 2018, reflecting on the good times they had and the wonderful father-daughter relationship they had built throughout the years.

Describing him as the greatest father in the world in a social media post, the columnist  showed appreciation to her dad for “always giving [her] something to believe in.”

She told PEOPLE how they spent time together doing “normal stuff” like watching the birds, seeing movies together and sharing meals. McCain also praised her late father for being “courageous and incredibly physically resilient” despite his cancer diagnosis.

The TV Personality Stood In Bad Bunny’s Corner

It is no secret that Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny’s performance at the Super Bowl halftime show sparked a lot of controversy. From politicians including President Donald Trump to celebrities, many criticized the musician’s dance steps, his choice not to perform in English, and the lyrics of the songs performed.

Trump made a statement calling Bad Bunny’s performance “one of the worst” and also condemned the language and the dancing, labeling it  “disturbing” for young people. Congressman Andy Ogles also echoed similar thoughts, claiming that the lyrics of the artist’s songs “openly glorified sodomy and countless other unspeakable depravities.”  

As reported by The Blast, Ogles alleged that gay sexual acts were displayed during the show and women were dancing inappropriately in a performance that had children in the pool of viewers.

In response to Congressman Randy, who announced that he called for an investigation into the broadcast on X, McCain wrote, “Could you be a bigger cancel culture dork?” She added that the backlash Bad Bunny received had made her listen to more of his music and even named her favorite tracks.

Meghan McCain Gave Her Voice Against ‘Dirty, Cruel Politics’

Recently, the former Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttigieg, was under investigation following an anonymous abuse allegation. The claims, which were later proven to be false, triggered a child welfare investigation involving the former secretary’s young children.

McCain was not pleased with the situation, as Buttigieg and his family were subject to a 24-hour investigation after child protective services informed him that an allegation had been made concerning his four-year-old twins, Gus and Penelope.

The former “The View” co-host expressed that involving children in political brawls was no way to go. “I am so sick of dirty, cruel politics and am truly deeply upset by the involvement of his children,” she wrote, adding that hearing the news was absolutely horrifying for her.

Other politicians, including Governor Gavin Newsom, also condemned the involvement of family in politics and weaponizing child welfare systems for political purposes.
