Prince Harry and Meghan Markle finally had their reunion with King Charles amid a long-running royal family rift.

The couple, along with their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, joined the monarch at his Highgrove residence along with Queen Camilla for a private and intimate meeting.

The former actress and her husband’s trip to the UK was plagued by surprising drama over security, alongside confusion over the monarch’s invitation for the Sussexes to stay at a royal residence during their time in the country, an offer that was later revoked.

“One gets the sense that, from Meghan’s perspective, the reunion with Charles and Camilla wasn’t entirely warm and fuzzy,” Andersen noted.

He added that the duchess vastly prefers her quiet lifestyle in Montecito, California. Furthermore, she reportedly detests the notion that a family trip to the UK with Harry and their children could be misinterpreted as a hidden desire to rejoin the royal fold.

Andersen said, “It’s fairly clear that Markle feels more secure in [her home] in Montecito, and doesn’t want to give the impression that she will be any part of a return to royal life.”

The author’s remarks were, however, rebuffed by a palace source who questioned how Andersen could possibly know the details of what was strictly a “private family-only meeting.”
