Meghan Markle has offered a glimpse into the kind of meals her husband, Prince Harry, enjoys eating at home.
In a cameo on Australian TV on Sunday, the Duchess claimed that Harry is a fan of “meat and potatoes,” a preference she attributed to his British upbringing. In the past, Meghan has also spoken about her family’s eating habits, particularly the breakfast foods that Harry and their son, Prince Archie, enjoy.
Meghan Markle Explains Prince Harry’s Traditional Food Tastes
When it comes to family meals, Prince Harry’s tastes largely reflect the traditional cuisine of the United Kingdom, his wife, Meghan, has revealed.
“My husband, being from the UK, he loves a lot of meat, potatoes, cream sauces,” she said during a July 26 appearance on “MasterChef Australia.”
Compared with her husband, Meghan said she prefers a lighter, protein-rich diet, which she attributes to her California roots. She also enjoys adding plenty of herbs and spices to her meals rather than keeping the flavors mild.
“I like grilled fish, grilled meats, citrus. I just like using lots of really pure, natural herbs and spices. I like heat in my food, anything with spices,” Meghan added.
Meghan Markle Says Harry Enjoys A Really Good Curry
MEGADespite Harry’s preference for traditional British fare, he appears to enjoy branching out when the opportunity arises.
According to Meghan, the former British Army pilot “can handle a really good curry,” referring to the popular South Asian dishes that originated on the Indian subcontinent.
The couple’s shared culinary favorite, however, appears to be barbecues, which the Duchess said their children also thoroughly enjoy.
“We just do a lot of barbecues, whatever is seasonal. The kids are great eaters. We are very lucky on that front.”
Meghan Reveals The Vegetable Her Kids Actually Enjoy
Meghan’s appearance on the show also offered another glimpse into her family’s eating habits, particularly those of her children.
While discussing the ingredients available for the cooking competition with the contestants, the Duchess revealed that her children are big fans of Brussels sprouts.
“Alright, so you have quite the bounty here,” the former actress said. “I really wanted to do things that give you something to play with. So, you have, of course, some citrus, you have lemon, you have macadamia nuts, some beautiful local Australian honey, Brussels sprouts, my kids eat Brussels sprouts.”
The revelation prompted one of the judges to respond, “That’s impressive,” reflecting the common perception that many children are reluctant to eat vegetables.
Meghan Says Cooking Is Her Love Language

“I like to cook in a really relaxed fashion, so all I can say to the competitors was to just remember to have fun, to keep a sense of humor about it, and to cook from the heart,” Meghan said.
She also revealed why cooking holds such a special place in her life.
“Food and cooking to me is really a love language,” Meghan explained. “I think it’s such a great way to connect; it’s something that can feel sentimental and meaningful, and it’s how I show my nurturing and love for my friends, family, my kids,” the “Suits” alum added.
Meghan Markle’s Netflix Cooking Show Has Ended

The first season debuted on March 4, 2025, and featured the Duchess not only cooking but also sharing her personal tips and tricks with viewers. Guests in the first season included actress Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, and Korean American chef Roy Choi.
Despite receiving mixed reviews, the series was renewed for a second season, which premiered in August of the same year. Once again, the show featured a host of celebrity guests across its eight episodes, although the lineup this time included more chefs to reflect the program’s culinary focus.
Still, any hopes for a third season were dashed after Netflix ended the overall production deal it had signed with Meghan and Harry.
