At just 10 years old, Max Alexander is quickly becoming the internet’s favorite designer. Alexander’s account, @couture.to.the.max, run by his parents, documents the craftsmanship behind his handmade, avant-garde garments, which are often made from reclaimed or recycled materials. The Los Angeles native, who has been sewing since the age of 4, offers his followers (7.3 million on Instagram and 3.9 million on TikTok) a look at his creative process, which begins not with a sketch, but with draping his materials of choice—coffee bean bags, vintage wedding dresses, and a French military parachute, to name a few—directly onto a mannequin. Since launching his fashion line in 2021, Alexander’s custom designs have been worn by celebrities including Sharon Stone and Debra Messing, and celebrated by fashion insiders such as New York Fashion Week creator Fern Mallis and legendary designer Bob Mackie. In March, Alexander earned a Guinness World Record—his second in three years—for being the youngest designer to show at Paris Fashion Week, where he presented his new sustainable collection. At the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival, the dressmaking prodigy was the subject of a short documentary that focuses on his commitment to upcycled fashion.
