The wildfire chaos has turned evacuation efforts into a logistical nightmare. Abandoned vehicles piled up in traffic-choked neighborhoods between Malibu and Santa Monica, forcing fire crews to use bulldozers to clear pathways. Some evacuees were even considering sheltering on nearby beaches as flames jumped across highways.

The Eaton Fire, which continues to terrorize Pasadena and Altadena communities, has displaced tens of thousands of residents. As of Wednesday morning, approximately 32,500 people remain under evacuation orders, a decrease from the peak of over 50,000 overnight, according to Angeles National Forest officials.

Sheriff Robert Luna reported that over 13,000 structures remain at risk, and fire officials are bracing for worsening conditions as strong winds and low humidity persist.

“We are absolutely not out of danger yet with the strong winds that continue to push through the city and the county today,” Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristin M. Crowley said, per CNN. “Our first responders and firefighters remain committed to protecting lives and property.”

A separate fire, which ignited hours earlier, tore through the Pacific Palisades neighborhood—a coastal hillside area known for its celebrity homes and immortalized in the Beach Boys' 1960s classic "Surfin' USA." In the desperate rush to escape, roads became clogged as countless people abandoned their cars and fled on foot, some carrying suitcases.

As celebrities speak out about the tragedy and state of their homes, "Frozen" actor Josh Gad took to social media to thank the brave men and women battling the wildfires. "I hope everyone is staying safe tonight in the affected fire areas in Los Angeles," Gad wrote. "My deepest gratitude and appreciation goes out to our brave fire and rescue and police forces who are doing everything in their power to keep the residents of Los Angeles safe right now."

Firefighting resources throughout Los Angeles are stretched to their breaking point. The Los Angeles Fire Department has called on all off-duty firefighters to report to their supervisors and confirm their availability for emergency deployment.
