A 23-year-old man was killed after being trapped under heavy equipment at a workplace in southwest Ottawa on Wednesday afternoon.

The Ottawa Paramedic Service said the man was pronounced dead at the scene on Barnsdale Road, not far from the city’s landfill facility on Trail Road.

The Ottawa Police Service issued a release saying that the incident was “not believed to be suspicious” and that it was supporting a Ministry of Labour investigation into the circumstances.

Paramedics said no other individuals were injured in the incident, which was reported at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 9.

The victim was not identified, with police saying names of victims were not released “unless requested to do so by their family.”
