Returning To LSU For The New Season

In May, Shchennikova announced her plans to return to the LSU Tigers for the 2025 season.

After an Achilles tendon tear during preseason sidelined her for the entire 2024 season—during which her LSU teammates achieved the program's first NCAA gymnastics championship—Shchennikova is now set to make her comeback. LSU officially confirmed that she will rejoin the team for a sixth year, transitioning from a spectator to an active competitor.

"I have so much more to give," Shchennikova said. "The hardest part for an athlete is knowing when to hang it up and I just had a gut feeling. I was like, 'This isn't how the story can end.'"

She added, "There's a lot of goals. But ultimately, I just want to do gymnastics one more time, end it the way I want to end it, and not have it forced to be ended."
