Sol Mýa (Sol Dean) joins the list of breathtaking stars the “Love Island” franchise has introduced to the world.
In the just-concluded “Love Island USA” Season 8, Mýa entered the Fiji villa on Day 7, immediately shaking things up before her journey ended just a week later when she was dumped on Day 14.
Even with her brief stint on the show, the confident beauty gained over 300,000 Instagram followers and built a loyal fanbase. Since leaving the villa, she has shared just one post on her Instagram feed, and it was more than enough to send fans into a frenzy.
Sol Mýa Lives Up To Her Baddie Reputation
On July 5, Sol Mýa treated fans to a four-slide Instagram carousel, captioned “Taking life one cute step at a time.” In the opening slide, she posed sideways on an empty street, subtly arching her back to highlight the curve of her backside while flashing a confident expression.
Mýa wore a skin-tight olive-green minidress with thin spaghetti straps, paired with black knee-high boots, a brown shoulder bag, and a silver waist belt.
The second slide offered a front view as she posed on a staircase, revealing the dress’ cleavage-baring neckline, while accessorizing with a dainty silver pendant necklace and thumb ring. Her signature pixie cut completed the effortlessly chic look.
She Looks ‘Beautiful’ Outside The Villa
The post amassed over 1,000 comments, with fans showering the former Islander with compliments.
“Being out of the villa looks beautiful on you,” one admirer wrote. Another person commented, “Such a baddie.” A third fan was already thinking ahead, writing, “I need you to get a manager and start getting brand deals.”
Although the response was largely positive, a handful of critics also appeared. One user bluntly wrote, “Thanks for posting. I forgot to unfollow you.” Rather than ignore it, Mýa simply replied, “You’re welcome,” seemingly unbothered by any hate directed toward her.
Fans Haven’t Forgotten Her Comments About The Winners
Following her elimination, Sol Mýa appeared on “Love Island USA: Aftersun,” where she questioned the long-term compatibility of eventual winners Trinity Tatum and Bryce Dettloff.
“No shade, no tea, but he [Dettloff] probably thinks Kayda is prettier than Trinity. Like, if his type did come in, I feel like he’d be like, ‘Oh my God,’” she told the hosts, Tefi Pessoa and Ciara Miller.
The remarks drew backlash online, with some viewers accusing Mýa of shading Tatum and even interpreting it through a colorism lens. Meanwhile, emotional clips of Tatum and Dettloff expressing their feelings for one another inside the villa went viral, leading many viewers to disagree with Mýa’s assessments.
Mýa later clarified that she could have chosen her words more carefully and that she never intended to insult Tatum.
After Tatum and Dettloff ultimately won the season on July 12, fans once again revisited Mýa’s comments under her latest Instagram post. But she chose not to engage, having already addressed the controversy.
Sol Mýa On Her Time In The Villa
During her “Aftersun” appearance, Sol Mýa also claimed that some of the women in the villa seemed “threatened” by her arrival, specifically mentioning Melanie Moreno and Aniya Harvey.
The comments sparked another wave of backlash, with one user saying they were “tired” of her. Some viewers argued that Mýa hadn’t made enough effort to build friendships herself, while a few defended her, pointing to certain moments in the villa when contestants appeared uneasy.
Despite spending only a week on the show, Mýa became one of Season 8’s more polarizing personalities.
She Is Quite The Bombshell
Sol Mýa’s Instagram feed is full of sultry, eye-catching posts that prove she’s every bit the bombshell in real life. One memorable shot shows her posing on a woven hanging egg chair in coordinated black lingerie, rocking her iconic pixie cut.
Under that post, an admirer commented, “So perfect. You are a total badass.”
