SCARING THE AI OUT OF US
Just a thought from an average guy. Is there any chance that the AI executives and so-called experts who are trying to scare all of us by saying that AI may take over the world and kill off the human race in the near future are related to the people from the ’70s who told us that the world was running out of oil to drive up prices, or that the world might end when all computers would quit at the turn of the century and nothing happened. Former vice president Al Gore told us we would all be under water by now from the glaciers melting and yes there is global warming, but the oceans aren’t that much higher.

Re “Trudeau’s red-carpet tour comes to TIFF” (Mark Daniell, Sept. 12): Justin Trudeau and Katie Telford attended TIFF to launch their new entertainment production company, Hope & Hard Work. Venture Capitalists? Not likely. The initiative comes on the heels of the spring announcement by Marc Miller, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture, of a $95M fund to support the export of creative Canadian industries, including film, in their international goals.
