Every few hundred years when the world is In desperate need of a courageous visionary leader, one such leader suddenly appears from the shadows and takes charge on the world stage. With vigour and determination, he proclaims that a new world order must be constructed and the old order pushed aside. His vision is presented through carefully crafted speeches to enthusiastic and adoring audiences and by visiting foreign leaders. Middle powers would come together to create a new hegemony in Europe, one that would include Canada and rival other world powers. How fortunate Canadians are to be included as part of this new world order and to have this once-in-a-lifetime leader leading us forward to complete oblivion.

SPREADING MISINFORMATION

We are currently entrenched in an ‘age of misinformation’ whereby unchallenged statements lead to unchallenged lies, a common and dangerous path for humanity. When heads of state continually distort the truth in public addresses and prevent being challenged by the press, these falsehoods become fact to the general public. Misinformation also travels at high speed across social media platforms and feeds the conspiracy mill. While AI provides a path to technological advancement, there is an obvious threat of corruption from misinformation sources. Much in the same way as information is power, distortion of the truth can be a lethal weapon wielded by world leaders. Historians will likely see this age as one of misinformation with Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin et al, the architects of the ‘age of maleficence’ where war is a common news headline.

It is a strange war in Iran when the team that claims a major military victory must seek permission from demolished team to end the conflict. Only Trump could Mastermind this boondoggle.
