To all of the employees of Purolator, UPS, FedEx, Canpar and all of our other Canadian couriers, I wish to give every one of you a huge thank you! You took on a nearly impossible task, with massive parcel overloads, working to exhaustion, to get everything to the Canadian public during the postal strike. Myself and my fellow Canadians can’t thank you enough for your Herculean efforts! Well done!

SOUR NOTE
With the recent choices the U.S. had electing a president, I was rather pleased when they recycled their 45th president, Donald Trump. As a former Austrian, imagine my disappointment when one of the first things Trump does as president-elect is propose “Anschluss” with Canada! It may have been a joke, but the idea of incorporating weaker neighbouring countries came from Hitler.

BAR NONE
Donald Trump is such a hypocrite. He admonishes Canada for not having stricter border controls, fearing felons could be entering the U.S. from here. At the same time, if we blocked his entry into Canada because he is a convicted felon, Trump would be outraged. Doesn’t he realize border rules work both ways?

DRIVING LESSON
I read Franco Terrazzano’s column “Trudeau drives through budget guardrail, sends finances off cliff” (Dec. 22) and found his research informative. However, I must admit I was puzzled by his closing statement, saying that “by driving through another budget guardrail, Trudeau has proven he’s lost control of the finances.” It seems to me it’s hard to lose control over something he never had control of in the first place.
