The late, great Sun editor Peter Worthington, in his book Looking For Trouble from four decades ago, made this observation: “Often the more threadbare and insecure a leader is, the more pompous and pretentious he is in order to give the impression of power and importance.” Amazing, he could have been describing Canada today!

(No doubt, Peter is looking down upon us and shaking his head)

PRINT PRAISE

Re “Sun delivers” (Letters to the Editor, Dec. 22): I too would like to acknowledge all the great people in the newspaper industry who are responsible for my printed edition, especially our delivery person Purvi. He delivers in all weather conditions and yes, it is always right by my front door very early morning. Thanks to your great team at the Toronto Sun, Well done!

HOUSE OF CARDS

Everyone should have a home. The increasing number of subsidized municipal housing units adds a financial burden to those who own homes and business properties. Those places do not cover their expenses: Taxes, heat, electricity, water, maintenance. This is not a good situation economically. How will you lose your property by this plan? Think about it.

Nick Bird
Richmond Hill

(A tough situation that’s taxing for all involved)

SPENDING ISN’T FREE

Thank you Brian Lilley for finally saying what should have been said when she resigned (“Free spender,” Dec. 23). Thank goodness as she was a terrible finance minister. She didn’t keep her promises and put Canada in a horrible financial position. Some of the media have almost hailed her as a hero. The only way she could be is if it forces Trudeau to finally quit. Good riddance to all of the Liberals and the sooner the better for all of Canada.

S. Marsh
Toronto

(She should be held accountable despite running away)
