NOT THE BEST
All this trade fiasco. Each side blaming the other. Nothing new here. It will one day work out and we will have new headlines like, “Cat stuck in a tree.” Politicians fail when they do what is popular and get votes rather than what is best for the people. Time to see if a new party can rise from the ashes. The ‘Balanced Party.’ But I am too old to start it. Sigh. Goodbye, Canada, once proud and prosperous.

(A deal will eventually get sorted, the question is how much damage will be done before that happens)
STAY PUT HARRY
Prince Harry and Meghan can’t return and hope everyone will forgive and forget what they said. They need to understand the words of Omar Kyam, who wrote: “The moving finger writes and having writ moves on, Nor all thy piety nor wit can cancel half a line, Nor all thy tears wash out one word of it.” The Brits wont forget or forgive. They would be wise to stay in the U.S.

(Sounds like their American neighbours are happy they are going back to the U.K. Harry however, isn’t without his supporters back home, it’s just the most important relationship with his brother and future king may be irreparable)
THE LEFT SIDE
Re “Councillor ditches ward at last minute for vacant Danforth seat” (Justin Holmes, Aug. 22): Surprise, surprise. Wouldn’t do to have two Chow toadies going head to head trying to get elected in the same ward. That might split the vote and present an opportunity for a non-progressive to come up the middle. And, should Olivia Chow get re-elected, will anyone be surprised when we see the retired councillor for Toronto-Danforth show up in some other taxpayer-funded sinecure?
