Langley man jailed for almost 12 years after police bust drugs and weapons operation

A Langley man has been sentenced to 11½ years in prison after pleading guilty to running a drug trafficking network in Chilliwack, Abbotsford and Langley.

Tyler Missen had pleaded guilty to the drug charges and possession of illegal firearms, after he was arrested on June 29 by a team of police led by the Chilliwack RCMP. They and officers from the Langley RCMP, Abbotsford police and an emergency response team raided three addresses on that day, according to a Chilliwack RCMP news release.

Missen was arrested and charged three days later with a number of offences, the release said. Police seized drugs, guns, vehicles and Canadian currency, it said.

Two others arrested at the same time have not been charged.

Police had begun investigating the traffickers in April.

Missen’s sentence, delivered last week, was reduced by credit for time-served in custody after his arrest and he has 10 years and 10 months left to serve, police said.

“This sentence reflects the serious consequences associated with trafficking dangerous drugs and illegally possessing firearms,” said Cpl. Stephan Mendela of the Chilliwack RCMP in a statement. He said the arrest removed “significant quantities of harmful drugs” from the three cities.

At the time of the seizures, police announced two homes in Abbotsford and Langley, and an Abbotsford storage locker, had been searched. They found what they suspected were drugs, including 600 grams of methamphetamine, 4½ kilograms of cocaine, 3½ kilograms of fentanyl, two firearms, two vehicles and $45,000 in cash.

Missen was charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking of fentanyl, meth and cocaine, as well as the two illegal firearms and possession of another contrary to a court ban, police said at the time.

Authorities also say they intend to seek a forfeiture order against the property used for crime or bought with money from the crime.

Missen is fighting an earlier lawsuit filed by the director of civil forfeiture, who is claiming more than $41,000 that police seized in early 2025 after Missen allegedly fled on a motorcycle during a police traffic stop in Abbotsford in May 2025. Abbotsford police allege Missen ran away after being stopped on a Harley Davidson during a traffic check. They found 75 grams of meth and a drug pipe on him during a search, according to the lawsuit.

Four days later they detained and searched Missen and found more than $41,000 in cash on him and various amounts of several drugs, the lawsuit alleges. They seized the cash and the rental vehicle he was driving. A later search of the rental turned up various amounts of illegal drugs, the lawsuit said.

They charged him with prohibited driving because he was under a court ban against driving, plus with breaching the order and with possession of drugs, the lawsuit said. Police also found various amounts of drugs, body armour, ammunition and drug trafficking paraphernalia, as well as more cash at his Abbotsford residence they later searched, it said.
