Mauricio Umansky has already made a name for himself. In addition to being the husband of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards, Umansky is also a real estate mogul who sells luxury properties worldwide. And if that wasn’t enough, Umansky also spent two seasons starring in his own Netflix show, “Buying Beverly Hills,” alongside his daughters, Alexia and Farrah. So, what’s next for the 56-year-old? He says he’s considering a jump into politics, starting with a mayoral run in the coming years.

According to Umansky, campaigning to become the mayor of LA could be in the cards for him for several reasons. The main one is that he’s a California native, and he believes he knows what Los Angeles needs to thrive again.

“I really think that I can help L.A. and California. I grew up there. I think it’s one of the best cities in the world and I love my city,” he said. “It’s a melting pot. I’m Hispanic. I identify with the Hispanics, I identify with business people, and I identify with Jews − all of it! So I believe I understand the right balance and I think it’s something that is definitely in the cards for me.”

Mauricio Umansky Said In The Summer Of 2026 That Fans Shouldn’t Be Surprised If He Jumps Into Politics?

This isn’t the first time that Umansky has spoken about his interest in politics. According to a previous report from The Blast, the reality star, who is currently appearing in “Special Forces” with his daughter, spoke with Tomi Lahren on her podcast and said fans shouldn’t be surprised if they see his name on a ballot in the coming years.

And Umansky isn’t the only TV personality considering throwing their hat into the ring of California politics. Earlier this year, fellow reality star Spencer Pratt made headlines after slamming LA’s current mayor, Karen Bass, and launching his own campaign. However, Pratt lost the primary election in early June 2026.

While the former MTV star drew some pushback, Umansky implied he was OK with Pratt’s attempt to enter politics. “But yeah, I think that there are people that can do a lot of different stuff out there,” he said.

Elsewhere in his interview with USA Today, Umansky opened up about filming “Special Forces” with his daughter and called it an “eye-opening” experience.

“You know, being a father, you’re always going to take care of your daughter no matter what,” he explained. “I think at the beginning, there was a little bit of fear in me that it was going to be harder. But as we went through … there were very important moments that she helped me and get through with certain challenges and watching her do certain things. So I think it ultimately ended up being mutually beneficial to both of us.”

According to The Blast, Umansky isn’t the only Bravo star who filmed “Special Forces.” Over the years, other reality stars have appeared, including Brittany Cartwright, Teresa and Gia Giudice, and most recently, “RHOBH” star Brandi Glanville.

Glanville’s time on the show was cut short, however, after suffering a medical emergency during the first challenge. That doesn’t mean she’s disappointed in herself, though. In fact, she said she was “so proud” of what she accomplished.

“I wanted to prove to my kids I could do it, but I had to go to the doctor. I was done. But I think that this still proves to the kids that I was kind of a bad*ss,” she continued.
