The Kremlin has floated the possibility of a landmark trilateral meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in November.

Trump has met both leaders multiple times during his first and second terms, but his relationship with both has seemingly been contentious.

The billionaire politician previously shared that Xi Jinping is expected to visit the U.S. later this month for a summit at the White House.

Trump, Xi, And Putin Could Meet In November

The Kremlin has teased the possibility of the world’s three biggest superpowers, the U.S., Russia, and China, converging for a first-of-its-kind trilateral meeting later this year.

Speaking to Russian state TV, senior Kremlin foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov confirmed that Trump, Xi Jinping, and Putin may hold the meeting at the next Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in November.

He noted that Putin and Xi directly discussed the possibility of the high-stakes encounter on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) gathering in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

“This issue was discussed, yes,” Ushakov said, confirming that all three of them would be attending, per Reuters.

“And if it turns out as has been said, then the three of them will be able to have a meeting,” he added.

China, Russia, and the United States are all member economies of the 21-nation APEC bloc, which China will host for its next leaders’ summit, slated for November 18-19.

If realized, a trilateral summit involving Washington, Beijing, and Moscow would mark an unprecedented diplomatic alignment at a time when global security issues, trade policy, and regional conflicts continue to strain relations between the world’s foremost powers.

However, the White House has yet to officially confirm President Trump’s attendance or any planned sit-downs.

Weighing in on the Kremlin’s statements, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said, “We have no announcements regarding President Trump’s attendance at APEC at this time.”

Trump To Meet Xi Jinping This Month

Meanwhile, Trump is expected to meet the Chinese leader later this month at the White House, where they’ll discuss artificial intelligence.

The President made the announcement while speaking at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in July, discussing his plans to build more AI data centers.

“President Xi is coming over on Sept. 24,” Trump said, per Fox News. “We talked about it when I was over in Beijing, and we’ll be talking about it again.”

He called AI “probably the biggest thing anybody’s ever seen” as he doubled down on his stance that the U.S. must lead China in the race for superintelligence.

“Whoever wins that race is probably going to win, period,” Trump said.

Trump Rushes White House Helipad Ahead Of Xi Visit

The two of them met back in May during Trump’s trip to Beijing, accompanied by Elon Musk and a large delegation of top U.S. business leaders, most notably Jensen Huang of Nvidia and Tim Cook of Apple.

According to the Washington Post, Trump has seemingly made ample preparations to ensure the smooth flow of things. He reportedly rushed the construction of a new helipad at the White House in anticipation of an “upcoming state visit.”

The move drove up construction costs by $875,000, as workers had to work around the clock. According to the news outlet, updated construction plans sent to the contractors reportedly told them to conclude work no later than September 17.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi sat down to highlight the groundwork for what he called a “very positive visit,” per Reuters.

Trump Advocates For More AI Data Centers

Trump has been very vocal in advocating for tech companies and the need for more AI data centers, as he aims to position the U.S. above China as the ultimate leader in technology.

He recently took to his Truth Social platform to slam communities that have been pushing back against the technology, saying they risk economic hardship.

“The only reason that communities throughout the U.S.A. should not want Data Centers is if they want to end up being backwards and poor,” he wrote.

“If they want to be successful and rich, with far lower taxes and jobs all over the place, let Data Reign,” he added. “The good news is that there are plenty of other places that want them.”

It comes as many Americans have expressed concerns about the technology, with some fearing it could drive up electricity costs and raise the overall cost of living in areas where it’s located.
