After 67 matchdays, FC Bayern is no longer at the top of the Bundesliga standings. Since Vincent Kompany’s arrival at the club, the Rekordmeister were only in the same position in his first two Bundesliga games in charge.
"Every game has its own story. Today, unfortunately, the story was that we couldn't score,” the Belgian coach explained the situation in an interview with Sky Sports (as quoted by Bayern-focused X account @iMiaSanMia). “That takes nothing away from Schalke's performance. They really fought hard and closed the spaces well.
“On the other hand, our counter-pressing was exceptional today, we didn't concede any chances. And we created many clear-cut chances against a compact defense, so there are positives as well. At FC Bayern, you can only be happy if you win"
Kompany further praised Schalke’s performance by outlining what made them succeed in stopping one of the best attacks in world football. "Congratulations to Schalke. They fought really hard for the point. We had our moments and created big chances.
“When you play against such a compact and aggressive team, then you have to take your chances. Next time we have to score our goals"
