Kompany and Urbig understand Belocian’s unsportsmanlike act

Harry Kane missed a Bundesliga penalty-kick for the first time in FC Bayern’s narrow win over VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday. After the game, the moment of Jeanuël Belocian trampling the penalty spot divided opinions.

England’s captain slipped before his shot, which entirely missed the target, while there is also a possibility of multiple touches. "What do you expect them to do? Should they just clap when we score a goal?" said Vincent Kompany calmly regarding the incident.

When he was asked about why his players didn’t protect the penalty spot, the coach predicted it would have been different on another day. "If we had gotten a penalty against PSG on Wednesday, we'd have had two or three guys there. It's sometimes these little details that make a difference," reflected the Belgian with an honest reflection.

Bayern winning the game with a second-half goal could also play a role in the relaxed way Kompany and goalkeeper Jonas Urbig reacted to the incident. "For Wolfsburg, it's about everything. That's why I'm not angry with them about that." said the shot-stopper who was Bayern’s best player of the first-half.
