Köln reach agreement in principle for loan of West Ham's Edson Álvarez

The 28-year-old former Ajax star, once linked with Borussia Dortmund, could finally get his taste of Bundesliga football.

Sky Germany are reporting that 1.FC Köln and West Ham have reached an agreement in principle over a loan deal for Edson Álvarez. 

The main issue for the Cathedral City club with regards reaching a full agreement with Álvarez over his considerable salary package.

In order to transfer to Köln, the 28-year-old would have to take a significant pay cut to join the Bundesliga outfit. 

One other concern for Köln is that Álvarez also has offers on the table from a handful of unnamed clubs Türkiye's Süper Lig.

However, he has already gathered information about Köln, the fans, the incredible atmosphere, the city and the RhineEnergie stadium.

Given the Mexican international has received nothing but positive feedback, Köln are pushing to get the deal done quickly.
