King Charles’ desire to see his sons reunite is unlikely to be fulfilled anytime soon, as tension within the royal family remains a hurdle they struggle to overcome.

Queen Camilla is said to be upset as Prince William continues to reject a reconciliation with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, especially because the feud weighs heavily on the monarch.

With the Sussexes now staying in the UK for an extended period, an opportunity for peace presents itself, but William continues to refuse owing to a “deep sense of betrayal.”

King Charles Wants To Reunite His Sons, Prince William And Prince Harry

King Charles is reportedly eager to see the ongoing feud between Harry and William be settled. The Prince of Wales, however, continues to refuse, a move that has seemingly upset Camilla.

She is said to be “fuming” as the disagreement between the brothers weighs heavily on the monarch, who is still battling cancer.

A source told the National Examiner that the queen “knows better than anyone how important this is for Charles.”

The monarch reportedly had a “real spring in his step” following his reunion with Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet at Highgrove House in July. The gathering represented the first time the king had seen Archie and Lilibet in four years.

He was very happy to spend time with his grandchildren, as bonding with them “means the world to him.”

However, Harry and William’s continuous estrangement remains, according to the source, “very bothersome” and is the last thing the monarch needs considering his condition.

Buckingham Palace announced in February 2024 that the monarch was diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer. He has since been receiving treatment, but the fight to beat the disease continues to this day.

The diagnosis came at a time when the royal family was divided, with the Sussexes in the United States and the Waleses in the United Kingdom.

Harry had to travel all the way from his home in California to Britain to see his father, highlighting the bond they shared amid royal family tensions.

According to ABC, Harry said at the time, “I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”

More recently, the King’s Highgrove House reunion with the Sussexes, especially Archie and Lilibet, reportedly made the King particularly happy, showcasing that spending time with family helps him as he continues to handle his ailment.

However, he’s unable to fully enjoy family time as they remain divided even with  Harry’s recent relocation to the UK, which stresses Charles and negatively impacts his health.

While Harry has previously spoken about repairing his relationships, William has remained adamant in his estrangement from his brother.

In a previous report by the National Examiner, a source revealed that the Prince of Wales is completely uninterested in mending relationships.

According to the insider, William “is still livid and can’t understand why his father keeps extending olive branches” to him as “Harry is beyond hope.”   

The prince reportedly doesn’t believe that his brother’s arrival in Britain makes a difference, despite their drawn-out rift.

Prince William Doesn’t Even Want To Be Photographed With Prince Harry

Mandatory reports that William doesn’t even want to appear in a photograph together with Harry, as he doesn’t want there to be a misunderstanding about their relationship.

A source shared that the future king believes that being seen together would be “interpreted as evidence that everything between them had been resolved,” which would be a misrepresentation of how things stand between them.

There is still bad blood, and William doesn’t want to put in much effort into healing the relationship as his priorities remain “protecting his wife and children,” who he believes were put through an ordeal by Harry and Meghan.

Prospects For Peace Between Prince Harry And William Remain Uncertain

While the Sussexes’ return to the UK puts them in closer proximity to the royal family, a meaningful resolution remains distant.

A source close to the Prince and Princess of Wales told People Magazine that reconciliation “will be a slow build. There is a deep sense of betrayal.”

However, a different source claims that there’s a majority that believes “reunion with the Sussexes is madness.”

King Charles remains hopeful that his sons will settle their differences, and Harry seems willing to cultivate a meaningful relationship with his brother, but William remains insistent on keeping his distance.

As an NE insider puts it, all Charles wants is peace: “But at this point in time, his eldest son won’t give that to him.”
