Travis Kelce's former partner Kayla Nicole reignited public discussion about their past relationship after posting a Halloween video that fans quickly interpreted as a thinly veiled message at Taylor Swift.
On Friday, October 31, Nicole shared a clip on Instagram dressed as Grammy-winning singer Toni Braxton, recreating Braxton's famous He Wasn't Man Enough music video, an act some believe is directed at the Kansas City Chiefs' tight end.
These kids just became the mini Kelce brothers for Halloween, and it's the cutest thing ever
The influencer danced to the song's chorus, specifically the lines: "Do you know I dumped your husband, girlfriend? ... Do you know he begged to stay with me? He wasn't man enough for me."
Nicole's performance immediately drew attention, with many interpreting the choice of song as a comment on her relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, now engaged to the billionaire pop icon.
The video was posted just days after renewed rumors that Swift had addressed Nicole indirectly in her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, specifically in the song Opalite which is believed by some fans to reference Kelce's former on-and-off relationship.
Though Swift has not confirmed the speculation, Nicole's Halloween post stands in sharp contrast to Kelce's nostalgic costume story and her performance, seen by millions, carried undertones of defiance.
The influencer had previously addressed the emotional aftermath of the breakup and the public scrutiny surrounding it.
"As someone who obsesses over the fact that I, on a daily basis, am terrified of my comments, terrified of my DMs," Nicole said on The Pre-Game. "I don't want to be triggered. I don't want to care. I don't want to look."
Kelce and Swift announced their engagement in August after two years of dating. While neither has commented publicly on Nicole's post, the timing and the song's pointed lyrics have reignited public debate over one of sports and entertainment's most-watched love triangles.
Travis Kelce is a born winner - Even at Halloween
Before his high-profile engagement and viral Halloween discussions, Travis Kelce had already proven he could turn even costume contests into victories.
A resurfaced yearbook photo shows the NFL star winning his high school's 2005 Halloween costume competition dressed as Luigi from Super Mario Bros.
In the image, a teenage Kelce is seen posing beside classmate Bianca Vann, who dressed as civil rights leader Rosa Parks.
The yearbook caption read, "Sophomores Travis Kelce and Bianca Vann were the winners of the costume contest at the 2005 Halloween festival, Oct. 31. Kelce was dressed as Luigi, a video game plumber, while Vann dressed as Rosa Parks."
During a 2023 episode of their New Heights podcast, Travis and his brother Jason recalled the moment.
Jason joked that he "forced" Travis into the costume, saying, "It was a good outfit", and Travis responded with a laugh, adding: "You can see how ecstatic I was to be Luigi, man."
Their mother, Donna, later told Us Weekly that seeing her six-foot-tall sons in those costumes was "kind of funny," adding that Jason was "salty" his younger brother took home the win.
