KATSEYE’s Detroit concert cancellation exposed a growing tension between fans’ expectations and the demands placed on the rising girl group.
With Megan Skiendiel reportedly too unwell to perform, the announcement came just 30 minutes before the scheduled start, leaving ticket holders frustrated and disappointed.
While some concertgoers questioned the timing and financial sacrifices they had made, others defended the decision, arguing that the members’ health should take priority over a demanding performance schedule.
KATSEYE Postponed Detroit Concert After Megan Skiendiel Fell Ill
The sudden change disrupted plans for fans who had already made their way to Little Caesars Arena, with some reportedly inside the venue when the cancellation appeared on screen.
KATSEYE announced the decision through Instagram Stories, explaining that Skiendiel could not take part because of her health.
The group acknowledged the inconvenience, particularly for supporters who had travelled to Detroit and arranged their schedules around the performance.
Its statement read, “Unfortunately, Megan is unwell and unable to perform tonight, and we want to make sure she has time she needs to rest and recover.”
The members also expressed disappointment over missing the opportunity to perform, adding, “We are incredibly disappointed that we won’t get to see you, and we’re truly sorry for the inconvenience.”
Little Caesars Arena separately confirmed that the concert had been postponed rather than cancelled outright.
Ticket holders were instructed to retain their tickets, which would remain valid once a replacement date was announced.
The venue also promised to send further information by email, although the sudden announcement left attendees waiting for clarity about when the show would be rescheduled.
KATSEYE Fans Criticized Timing Of Concert Cancellation
The timing quickly became a major source of frustration among concertgoers, particularly those who had spent considerable money travelling to see the group.
Per the Daily Mail, one disappointed X fan described the financial sacrifices involved, writing, “I spent over a thousand dollars, took off work, and made so many sacrifices to be here.”
The same person questioned the group’s handling of the situation, adding, “I had a feeling this was going to happen. They had no problem leaving those merch booths open though. I’ve been with them since [dream] academy but when you mess with my money I’m dropping you.”
Another attendee questioned why the announcement came so close to showtime, noting, “Literally canceled it a half hour before the show starts after everyone got to their seats. How considerate.”
One concertgoer also described arriving shortly after the cancellation appeared on the arena screens, saying: “We walked in 5 minutes after the announcement went up on screen and the lights were up.”
The attendee expressed particular concern for younger fans who had become emotional over the unexpected development, while also questioning how the group would accommodate a replacement performance.
KATSEYE Members’ Previous Hiatuses Renewed Concerns About Exhaustion
Xavier Collin/Image Press Agency / MEGANot everyone viewed the postponement as an unacceptable decision. Some supporters connected Skiendiel’s illness to wider concerns about the group’s demanding schedule, particularly after Sophia Laforteza and Manon Bannerman had both experienced periods away from activities this year.
One fan defended the decision, declaring, “They NEED a break.” The supporter also argued that “these girls health and wellbeing are way more important than potentially carrying on when their conditions are not well enough to tour.”
The same comment acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the Detroit show but welcomed the decision to prioritize the performers’ wellbeing.
Another fan went further, suggesting that the group should take an extended break in 2027 rather than continue pushing through an exhausting schedule. “They need to let these girls take 2027 off and REST… it’s clear these girls are exhausted, and the company needs to recognize that,” the supporter wrote.
The fan added, “Let 2027 be their year to rest, recover, and regroup so they can return in 2028 with ALL members healthy, refreshed, and ready for a new era. Their health should come before a schedule.”

KATSEYE Expanded Wildworld Tour With Major Asian Concert Dates
C Flanigan/imageSPACE / MEGAThe Detroit cancellation showed how much fans had invested in seeing KATSEYE perform, but the group’s international touring plans also demonstrated the scale of its live commitments.
Last month, the group announced an 11-city Asian and Oceanian extension of its Wildworld Tour, including a significant milestone: its first standalone concert in South Korea.
According to The Korea Herald, the Seoul performance is scheduled for February 4, 2027, at KSPO Dome, a venue with approximately 15,000 seats.
The tour extension is set to begin in Yokohama, Japan, on January 27, with additional stops in Manila, Hong Kong, Cebu, Singapore, Bangkok, Taipei, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.
The Manila date carries particular significance for Laforteza, who grew up in the Philippines. The Korea Herald reported that she was on a temporary hiatus to focus on her mental health and well-being, with an expected return to group activities in early January.
The Seoul concert will also mark a major moment for Korean member Yoonchae, who is set to headline a full-scale concert in her home country for the first time.
The expansion follows 27 announced European and North American tour stops, reflecting the group’s growing international reach.
KATSEYE Faced Divided Reactions To Victoria’s Secret Performance
KATSEYE’s expanding concert schedule was not the only indication of its growing presence on major stages.
The group also performed at the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Culver City, California, on October 18, delivering “Pinky Up” and “Animal” during the event’s PINK segment.
The four participating members, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel and Yoonchae Jeung, entered from the audience before performing alongside the runway presentation.
However, footage of the appearance generated criticism from some viewers, particularly over the group’s choreography and coordination.
One critic wrote on X, “All those 14 hours of rehearsals, and they still can’t walk in sync…” Another complained, “No glue holding them together, no cohesion, zero chemistry and every one of them trying to outshine the other.”
The performance also attracted considerable support. One fan defended the group’s presentation, writing, “Katseye’s performance was perfect for what [Victoria’s Secret] PINK represents: youth, carefree, girly and pink.”
Another supporter declared, “Katseye, no one is doing it like you.”
