Per The Express, Kate Upton had been turned down for catwalk modeling by an executive at lingerie giant Victoria's Secret. “She is too obvious. She’s like a page 3 girl. She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and the kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy,” the outlet quotes. Victoria's Secret, which has since undergone an image revamp to shed its allegedly former toxic image, was once renowned for its Victoria's Secret Angels, nearly all of whom were white and impossibly slender.

Says She Was Told She's 'Too Fat'

In a separate interview with The Daily Mail, Kate revealed the impact of being told she was too curvy. "It was hard when I was first in the industry and people were like: 'No, you are fat,’" she shared.

Kate has since risen to be a superstar modeling face who this year made headlines for returning to SI Swim for its 60th-anniversary edition.
