Anthony-Towns has been open about his struggles since losing his mother, Jacqueline, in April 2020. He opened up about both of his parents contracting the COVID-19 virus with a post on Instagram, revealing they’d been hospitalized and that his mother was placed on a ventilator.

Following her death, Anthony-Towns’ first team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, released a statement calling her a great “wife, parent, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, and friend.” The statement continued, “The matriarch of the Towns family, she was an incredible source of strength; a fiery, caring, and extremely loving person, who touched everyone she met.”

“In moments of true pressure and a lot of things going on, I always feel this calming come to me, and it’s always her. It’s just great to always feel her arms around me and to always feel her love in my life in so many different ways,” he said.

These moments you talk about of high pressure that shake humans and shake people in those moments, I’ve seen too much in a different aspect that you know, just, it’s basketball. The other things I dealt with is real life,” he said.

Beyond his relationship with his mother, Anthony-Towns would likely also write about his romance with fiancée Woods. The couple got engaged in December 2025 after several years together.

According to a previous report from The Blast, the University of Kentucky alum gushed about their “bond,” saying that their love is about much more than just their physical connection.

Woods echoed those sentiments in an earlier interview, calling Anthony-Towns her best friend and saying their relationship is built on a solid foundation of shared experiences.

“We’ve seen each other at all different ways, times, and phases, so I think we have a very strong foundation,” she said.
