Kanye ‘Ye’ West‘s legal drama continues, as a former employee drags him back to court for more money.

The rapper, legally known as Ye, became embroiled in a nasty court battle with a man named Tony Saxon over his former Malibu mansion.

Although the controversial botched home has since found a new owner, Kanye ‘Ye’ West is still on the hook for what transpired on the property while Tony Saxon was under his employment.

After butting heads in court over wrongful termination, labor violations, unpaid wages, and more, Saxon and Ye both emerged partially victorious in the legal drama. But the former employee hasn’t given up on making the rapper cough up a seven-figure sum.

Saxon filed new documents arguing that Ye must pay him $1.2 million in attorney’s fees. He claimed his legal reps deserved the massive sum based on their efforts in the nearly three-year fight, which included over 740 attorney hours and additional litigation staff time.

Saxon’s attorneys, per the court documents obtained by TMZ, stressed that their legal firm spent over $300,000 out of pocket due to the case, which they handled on contingency. The legal representatives also took shots at Ye, blaming him for dragging out the case with litigation tactics.

The Rapper Was Accused Of Making The Case More Challenging

Saxon’s attorneys implied that the case wouldn’t have been a complex fight without Ye’s antics, alleging his team offered a $100,000 settlement before the trial. After their proceedings began, the entertainer’s side changed the tune, demanding $200,000 and a public apology.

Naturally, Saxon’s team shut down the offer and pushed for a legal trial, which they partially won. The allegations against Ye’s team continued, with the attorneys blaming his side for making the case more challenging for them by filing another lawsuit.

The Yeezy founder filed a separate lawsuit against Saxon in the days leading up to the trial, which the latter’s attorneys claim was an underhanded scheme. The legal reps believed the second lawsuit was filed to be used as leverage during settlement talks.

The Former Employee Was Awarded $140K

Saxon’s seven-figure attorney’s fee comes months after a jury found Ye liable for his injuries. He claimed he had been seriously injured while working on the hip-hop star’s gutted Malibu home in 2021 and sought $1.7 million in damages.

As stated, the case was a partial win for both parties involved, with Ye escaping Saxon’s seven-figure compensation demand. Instead, the jurors awarded his ex-employee $100,000 for past and future medical expenses and an additional $40,000 for past pain and suffering.

They also placed Ye on the hook for Saxon’s reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs, which allowed the latter to file his most recent demands. Rolling Stone reported that the jurors dismissed the wrongful termination and retaliation claims, which marked a partial victory for the Grammy winner.

The outlet also covered the jurors’ reactions to Ye’s behavior when he took the stand. He appeared to fall asleep during his examination, which displeased many of the jurors, with someone slamming him for wasting their time. The anonymous juror said:

“Either he was just bored, or he was falling asleep on the stand. Both are bad options. I was not impressed.”

The entertainer’s behavior on the stand was far from his mind after the jury gave its verdict. Variety reported that his attorney, Milo Yiannopoulos, declared in a statement that they would appeal the $140,000 awarded to Saxon.

Additionally, they planned on filing a separate lawsuit for the “unlawful mechanic’s lien on Ye’s Malibu property.” Yiannopoulos claimed the lien not only interfered with the property’s sale but also “clouded the home’s title” and wasted valuable time.

In September 2024, The Blast reported that the gutted Malibu mansion had found a new owner after the rapper chose to sell it at a loss. He initially listed the failed “bomb shelter” project for $53 million after tearing it down but was forced to sell it for $21 million.

The property was once a stunning ocean-view home, which Ye purchased for $57 million in 2021. However, his renovation attempts left the mansion gutted without windows, electricity, and plumbing, eventually leading to legal drama with Saxon.

Saxon accused the entertainer of wrongful termination and an unsafe work environment, claiming he was let go after he spoke out against Ye’s dangerous construction. He cited labor violations and alleged threats, noting his then-employer showed no regard for his safety.
