Joined by his wife, Emily, Baldoni opened up on the “injustice” and “trauma” the two faced after Lively accused her It Ends With Us co-star and director of sexual harassment.
“We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because lord knows we have,” Baldoni began a self-shot video posted to Instagram. “But it just felt like every time we went to make a video like this, we wanted to speak, something was telling us not to. It just didn’t feel like the right time, and we were talking about it and feeling into it and praying about it.”
With the two having settled their dueling lawsuits in May, Emily said she and husband, who married in 2013, had “so much to say.”
“It makes it hard to figure out what is right for this specific moment,” she said. “But what does feel important is that we can genuinely say that we are sitting here today feeling immense gratitude for so many things and so many people.”
“Gratitude has saved us,” Baldoni added.
But Emily noted that despite the appreciation for the support they received, it doesn’t “negate the injustice and the pain that we have also felt in the last few years.”
“We’ve had to wrestle with so many things and try to understand so many things, like how could something like this even happen? Let alone disguised as a fight for women. So much to unpack,” she said.
After Lively accused her It Ends With Us director and co-star of sexual harassment on the set of the 2024 movie, Baldoni countersued the actress and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for $400 million, accusing the pair of trying to smear him and others involved in the production with false allegations of sexual and other harassment.
Emily said there’s been “a lot of trauma” in the aftermath as the couple deals with “untruthful” allegations.

‘The truth and the facts have spoken for themselves’
The impromptu video left Baldoni wondering if they were doing the right thing in speaking about the cast.
“We don’t even know if this is the right thing to say,” he said. “But we just know we need to share something. What I will say is that there have been so many painful things that have been spoken into existence over the last couple of years. That created so much noise, and we didn’t want to add to the noise. So we just wanted to let the justice system run its course.”
Emily said that “the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves” after the two settled their dueling lawsuits.
Baldoni, who didn’t mention Lively by name, said the couple is “healing” after their ordeal and thanked fans for their “discernment.”
“You have given your time to fight for us, and thank you does not feel like enough,” he said. “But we’re here, in large part, because of so many of you and all of our friends and family. One thing that we’ve learned is that when God presses the reset button and everything else is stripped away, that’s when love shows up, and we feel so loved.”

What was at stake in one of Hollywood’s most talked-about legal sagas?
Lively stunned Hollywood when she accused Baldoni of sexual harassment on the set of their smash 2024 movie that was based on the bestselling novel by Colleen Hoover.
After Baldoni’s countersuit against Lively was tossed late last year, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed the actress’ assertions that the accused had flouted intimacy protocols on the set of It Ends With Us. But the Gossip Girl star’s legal team was unbowed, and had planned to argue that Baldoni tried to sabotage her standing in Hollywood.
According to Fox News, Lively estimated that Baldoni’s descriptions of her as a “bully” cost her nearly $300 million in lost income.
The mother-of-four further alleged that Baldoni’s characterization of her affected Lively’s ability to attract roles in major studio films, smaller projects and TV shows.
Her attorneys pegged her lost earnings at anywhere between $34.3 million to $87.8 million.

Lively also claimed her beauty brand, Blake Brown, and her line of canned cocktails have taken a hit, ranging between $39.6 million and $143.5 million.
But in early May, the two agreed to end their legal feud.
“The end product, the movie It Ends With Us, is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life,” attorneys for both parties said in a joint statement. “Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors, and all survivors, is a goal that we stand behind.”
