“After being diagnosed with Coronary Heart Disease & a Pre-Diabetic, I urge all to get checked out sooner than later,” he wrote on Instagram in a caption for a series of nature photos, adding, “as you never know what hidden health issues you may have, even after exercising and eating as much ‘good/healthy’ food as possible.”
“Nip it in the bud! As they say…” he urged his followers.
Lennon said even with the ailments, he managed to “catch them early enough” and is able to “reverse some of the damage.” He said he hopefully will be able to live a long, healthy life.
“Please get checked out, before you’re checked out…,” Lennon concluded, while thanking all the doctors who have treated him.
About coronary heart disease
Coronary heart disease is a common condition that happens when there’s a reduced flow of blood to the heart due to a buildup of fats, cholesterol and other substances on artery walls, according to the Mayo Clinic. Pre-diabetes occurs when you have a higher-than-normal blood sugar level that doesn’t qualify for diabetes.
Lifestyle changes can improve both conditions, as Lennon noted.
Lennon is the son of John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia Powell. He is the half-brother of Sean Lennon, the son of John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
