While the trailer may be teasing a potential anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, it appears to have been created for a different purpose. Promoting the final volume of this spin-off manga might be their only goal for now. To know more about it and what the trailer potentially hints at, keep reading.
The JJK Modulo Trailer Advertises Volume 3 of the Manga
As the end credits suggest, the latest Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo animated trailer by MAPPA (released on April 30, 2026) was to promote Volume 3, which happens to be the final volume of this JJK spin-off.
Before this, Volume 1 was released on January 5, 2026, and Volume 2 was released on March 4, 2026, in Japan. And now, the 3rd and final volume of the manga is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2026.

To commemorate this release and, of course, to boost the sales of the final volume, the animated trailer will greatly aid. In any case, Modulo had already been fairly popular among the fanbase, and now, thanks to this breathtaking trailer, the manga sales are expected to skyrocket even further.
Yet, even though the trailer’s primary purpose was to promote the final volume of the spin-off manga, no one can deny the amount of work MAPPA has put into the clip. The 30-second video showcases MAPPA’s brilliant production quality, something we have already seen in the original Jujutsu Kaisen anime.
As such, it’s not a far-fetched idea to assume that the trailer has already teased a potential anime adaptation for the future, especially since MAPPA is the production studio behind the original JJK anime.
What Was Shown in the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Animated Trailer?
The Jujutsu Kaisen spin-off manga series, which only ran for six months (25 chapters released from September 8, 2025, to March 9, 2026), had many iconic moments, and the trailer beautifully captures many of them. It kicked off by putting the spotlight on Maru, a key figure from the manga.
Then it showcases the close bonds formed between him and other sorcerers from Earth, namely Yuka and Tsurugi. But soon, the tone turns dark and gloomy, presenting the rising tension that comes along with coexisting with a different race that also possesses powers similar to those of Jujutsu sorcerers.
It even teased the epic fight between Dabura, another key figure from the manga, and the Divine General Mahoraga. And to everyone’s surprise, the trailer featured one of the manga’s major spoilers by animating Mahito, who was assumed to be dead. And last but not least, Yuji Itadori was also shown alive!
When Could the JJK Modulo Anime Come Out If Adapted?
Mahoraga as seen in the Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo promotional trailer | Credits: MAPPASince Modulo is essentially a spin-off/”what if” continuation series set in the world after the events of the original Jujutsu Kaisen manga ending, there’s still a long way to go before even considering a potential release for its full-fledged anime adaptation. Why so?
The original JJK anime is only halfway through the Culling Game arc. After its conclusion, MAPPA is expected to adapt the Shinjuku Showdown arc of the manga, which also happens to be the series’ final saga. And, roughly speaking, it may take 3 to 4 years for the main anime to wrap up.
Therefore, the creators wouldn’t want to release a Modulo anime before the anime storyline reaches its conclusion, so it’s not likely to happen anytime soon. If this promotional trailer is any indication of a potential anime adaptation, then you can expect it to be released sometime in 2029 or 2030!

Now, given the length of this spin-off, instead of an anime, Modulo can work extremely well as a movie! However, Japan also has a thing for OVAs, so that is also a possibility.
